ZURI ALEXANDER

A powerhouse of talent and versatility, Zuri Alexander is a captivating jazz vocalist, actress and pianist whose artistry knows no bounds. With a voice that soars and a presence that commands attention, she has mesmerized audiences worldwide—from the jazz clubs of Madrid to the theaters of Los Angeles.

On stage and screen, Zuri is a force to be reckoned with. Her theatrical credits include starring roles in A Doll’s House (Nora), The Odd Couple (Florence Unger), and Lady Patriot (directed by the legendary Ted Lange). She has performed in over 70 stage productions and worked with esteemed companies like The Negro Ensemble Company, Chautauqua Theatre Company, Fierce Backbone, The Topanga Acting Company and Ensemble Studio Theatre/LA.

 

In October of 2024, Zuri worked with the celebrated TV writer, Mike Teverbaugh, one of the writers for The Drew Carey Show, in his first stage work entitled The (Mostly) True Story of a Common Scold at the Promenade Playhouse in Los Angeles   She delivered a standout performance as Hazel. Her portrayal was lauded as "incandescent , …a  subtle, gentle and very real presence on the stage," showcasing her ability to bring depth and authenticity to her characters. 

 

In film and television, Zuri has made her mark with appearances in House M.D. (FOX), Diary of a City Priest (PBS), and Brutus Black. Her voiceover work in Saints Row: The Third, Saints Row 3.5, and Saints Row 4.0 has further showcased her incredible range and versatility.

 

Beyond acting and singing, Zuri is a visionary filmmaker. Her film Quiet Denial, which she wrote, produced, and directed, was selected to over 14 film festivals, including the Pan African Film Festival and LA Shorts International Film Festival, earning three awards. She also co-wrote the groundbreaking stage production SUPERNATURAL: The Play, which explored the experiences of Black women and their natural hair journey, running for a year in Los Angeles with performances in New York, New Jersey, and Virginia.

 

With a voice that transcends genres and a presence that lights up every stage, Zuri Alexander is not just a performer—she is an experience. Whether in front of the camera, behind the microphone, or commanding the theater, she continues to leave an unforgettable mark on the world of jazz, film and stage.
